DescriptionThe work is a painted image of a marketplace in Nigeria. Several black figures engage in commerce, with a man and woman in the center talking with a trader over a bolt of cloth. A woman in the left edge and a woman on the right edge of the scene each carries a baby on her back, though the figure on the left also carries wares on her head. A chicken walks past and several other figures in the background are also conducting business.
