DescriptionThis oil on canvas painting depicts the moment when God finally ends Job's suffering and restores the wealth of Job (42:1-12). The weary Job sits while friends and family show their gratitude. Seven figures move toward Job, cloaked in red on the left. He is seated on the ruins with one foot resting on a stone; two children and a woman in bright blue form a diagonal line in the direction of Job. In the middle ground, a man carries a sheep. The background is a classical landscape and architectural ruins. The sky is blue and placid with large cumulus clouds.Label TextLaurent de La Hyre French, 1606–1656 Job Restored to Prosperity, 1648 Oil on canvas Gift of Walter P.
