DescriptionGlassware designed by Dorothy C. Thorpe that includes four objects: one wine glass, one martini glass, one sherry glass, and one dessert plate. All are decorated with hand-painted laurel leaves arranged as a wreath, either wrapping around the circumference of the drinking vessels at the mid-point of the body or placed at the center of the dessert plate. The laurel leaves are given shape with white and faintly lavender-gray shades of paint, creating depth and subtle shading. The glass itself is colorless and frosted to look almost white, although the top portions of the stemware is clear transparent glass above the laurel wreath.ProvenancePurchased by Liz Klein from a New York City gallery, 2000; gift to the Chrysler Museum of Art, 2018.
