DescriptionMeiping vase has high shoulders, slightly flared short neck. Tapers gracefully to foot. Glaze "oxblood" with "orangeskin" surface, collects evenly around foot. Exposed body of light buff color, bottom and interior white. Glaze on neck thinned by downward flow. Monochrome sang-de-boeuf ware: porcelain with copper-red glaze; with spurious mark painted on base in underglaze cobalt blue reading: “Da Ming Xunadenian zhi” (Made during Xuande reign of the Ming Dynasty)
