Label TextRUMMER COMMEMORATING THE FUNERAL OF ADMIRAL HORATIO, LORD NELSON Great Britain Ca. 1806 Blown glass, engraved. Inscriptions: on the obverse TRAFALGAR (NILE on the reverse LORD = NELSON (=)ANY=9=1806= Museum Purchase 82.90 This goblet bears the date of the Great British naval hero's burial in St. Paul's Cathedral and illustrates the funeral car modeled on his flagship, the H.M.S. Victory. Nelson was killed in the Battle of Trafalgar, but died victorious.
