This goblet bears the date of the Great British naval hero's burial in St. Paul's
Cathedral and illustrates the funeral car modeled on his flagship, the H.M.S. Victory.
Nelson was killed in the Battle of Trafalgar, but died victorious. The car's figurehead
holds out the laurel wreath of fame and the palm of victory.Published ReferencesTherle Hughes, _Decanters & Glasses_, pg. 118; Catalog, _A Coronation Exhibition of Royal, Historical, Political and Social Glasses_, by Arthur Churchill, Ltd., 1937, #130, p. 29; W.
