DescriptionCovered footed sugar bowl of clear blown glass. Rough pontil. Nick in mid-band. History of piece from heir indicated manufacturer. Bowl: Globular bowl decorated with a band of quilloche (chain-link) and a triple band nearer the galleried rim which is decorated with threading on an applied hollow knop stem enclosing an 1810, B1 Franc Napoleon Empereur coin. Applied plain round bun-like foot. Cover: Dome shaped with a quilloche band and lower triple band. Hollow globular knop finial enclosing a George III-1816 pence. Solid flat top showing rough pontil.

Barnes who was associated with the New England Glass Co., from its formulation in 1818 until the mid 1840s.
