"Araujo de Acebedo".Label TextChinese Export Cup and Saucer and Plate, ca. 1795-1800 Porcelain with enamel and gilded decoration Gift of the Winfield Foundation 55.3.47-.49 This cup and saucer and plate are part of a large dinner service decorated with the Portuguese arms of António de Araújo de Azevedo, 1st Count da Barca (1754-1817). The Count was a writer and bibliophile and an Honorary Member of the Royal Academy of Sciences in Lisbon. A noted European diplomat, the Count became Prime Minister and Councilor of State in Brazil.
