DescriptionTall chalice raised on a round foot decorated with engraving. Baluster-shaped stem surmounted by a long tapered goblet. The goblet has a gilt interior and a filagree sleeve which slips over it decorated with portraits of Catherine, Elizabeth and their father. These medallion-shaped portraits are gilded.Label TextRussian, Moscow Cup, 1747 Parcel gilt silver Gift of Robert A. Mills 77.1231.23 This cup was once in the Russian royal family collection. The cast silver filigree outer cage is set with chased, or hammered, portraits of three of the most important emperors of Russia: Peter the Great, Catherine the Great, and Elizabeth.
