DescriptionThis red earthenware two-handled tureen is decorated with a grimacing fish on each side; it is painted in a loose manner with colored slips. The vessel displays the hand of the artist and the spontaneity of both his form and decoration: the fish are painted in a relaxed manner which is echoed in the unfinished, rough bottom rim of the pot.Label TextRon Meyers American, Athens, Georgia (b. 1934) Tureen, 2000 Slip-decorated, salt-fired earthenware Chrysler Museum of Art Purchase with funds provided by the Walter P.
