DescriptionBulbous grey jar has tall wide neck with inverted lip to fit a lid and three registers 4 combed decoration separated by narrow ridges. Double ridges encircle bottom of neck at shoulder. Body irregularly shaped by hand, brown ash glaze heavy on shoulders of one side. Jar appears to have been set in a fire; bottom blackened and bubbled with wood texture at places.Published ReferencesSimilar jar in ORIENTAL ART, p. 312, Winter 1975 (four jars called 5th-6th century).
