DescriptionTall beaker engraved with interlaced strapwork enclosing scrolled foliage with depending clusters of leaves and flowers. Derived from Dutch prototypes. Flaring at the lip and a narrow border of decoration around the base which is applied.

Label TextEnglish, London Beaker, 1618-19 Silver Gift of Walter P. Chrysler, Jr. 78.76 Although simple in form, this beaker is elaborately decorated with engraved scrollwork and foliage. Similar decoration was engraved on glass and carved on furniture. Exhibition History"Treasures for the Table; Silver from the Chrysler Museum", 6/15-8/6/89 "Reopening of the Joan P. Brock Galleries," Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk, Va., Opening in March of 2008.
