DescriptionThis fire grate is iron with brass decorations. The grate is formed of an iron fireback decorated with a relief of a child with what seems to be a muscial instrument (horn). The fire backet is iron and steel with a decorative brass front of cut work. There are four brass urn shaped finials--two above tapering square brass legs. The back legs are plain strap iron. The grate is in the neo-classical taste and reflects the work of the Adam brothers. The grate probably comes from the latter part of the 18th century.
