DescriptionChaise lounge painted and grained to imitate rosewood and decorated with striping, designs in gold leaf and yellow paint, and applied brass mounts. The chaise lounge has asymmetrical scrolled ends, with the larger end scroll flowing into a single scrolled arm above the rear seat rail. Scrolled saber legs rest on ball feet. Ornament includes painted anthemia (on the front seat rail), pierced cast brass lozenges in rectangular panels of gilt banding (above legs), cast brass Apollo masks (scroll ends), cast brass laurel wreaths (end scroll panels) and floral medallions. Rectangular frame is rabbeted to accept a rush seat insert, and a loose silk-upholstered mattress lies above the rush.
