One of these gentlemen may be a self-portrait of the artist, Augustus Köllner, who traveled widely throughout America creating landscapes and city views for publication. The Museum bought this drawing through the Norfolk Newspapers’ Art Trust Fund, which during the 1950s and ’60s supported the purchase of dozens of paintings and prints depicting Virginia scenes and of fine antique silver by local craftsmen.
