DescriptionThis is a book of 24 stereoscopic views, printed in sepia by the Albertype process on one side of the leaf. [4] +99 p. + two-color folding map drawn by H.E. Krause. Gilt lettering on cover and spine, all edges gilt. Descriptive notes opposite each plate. Plate titles in Red ink, text pages and plates bordered in red ink. Small stereoscope with glass lenses on front flap of cover for viewing the steroes, one-page of instructions on how to use the book's stereoscope.

The Bierstadt brothers utilized new railroads and hotels to explore the White Mountains together on several occasions. Edward’s photographs later helped Albert complete his massive painting.
