The top and bottom are mirror each other - there are sixteen skeletons on the print, 8 on each level.Label TextAndy Warhol American, 1930–1987 Untitled (Skeletons), 1976–86 Gelatin silver prints (photographs) Andy Warhol included Untitled (Skeletons) in a body of photographic work that he completed shortly before his death. His use of repeating imagery encourages us to examine both the individual photographs and the overall work. Warhol’s technique of sewing the photographs together with thread further emphasizes the relationship between the whole and its parts. It also strikes a tension between the mechanical and the handmade. The work relies on a reproducible photographic process, but sewing the prints together makes it a unique object, even while the stitching was done by machine. Museum purchase, Horace W.
