DescriptionBahia effigy figure depicts seated lord with scribal tools: curved stylus and small round bottle with cap. Figure, designed as substyle of Manabi culture, wears ornate headdress-or stylized crown-and ornage necklace; rare representation of beard and facial hair, which is elaborate, follows contours of the figure's chin line. Primary matrix is a tanware base with reddish-brown & black resist grain-like pigment added for accent. Mountain region of ancient Ecuador.
