Label TextGeorge Tice American (b. 1938) Oak Tree, 1970 Gelatin-silver print Museum Purchase 86.202 A self taught photographer, George Tice has been working in photography since he was 14 years old. A master technician, he frequently uses the eight by ten inch view camera and is largely responsible for the resurgence of interest in the platinum/palladium printing process. Tice works with the extended photo essay and has published more than a dozen books of his photographs, including Fields of Peace: A Pennsylvania German Album (1970), Paterson (1972), Urban Landscapes: A New Jersey Portrait (1975), and Hometowns: An American Pilgrimage (1988).
