DescriptionThe flask is made of earthenware, or faïence, covered with an opaque white slip and colored lead glazes. The thin sides of the flask are decorated with raised and painted strap work glazed in dark blue and burnt umber with the front and back decorated with yellow-throated blue birds on bamboo branches with prunis, or cherry, blossoms below.Published ReferencesEssay by Bernard Bumpus.
