DescriptionThs is a hand-built, slip-covered, wood-fired, stacked stoneware box in four parts: a bottom compartment perched on four feet, two middle sections, and a lid. The lid is decorated with an incised diamond pattern, while the sides of the bottom thre sections are scratched with a diagonal pattern. All of the elements are glazed inside with a black or temmoku glaze. The artist's chop mark, RJ, is impressed on the underside of the bottom element.
