DescriptionThe David L. Hack Civil War Photography Collection. Photograph of Civil War soldiers standing in front of a tent and centered behind and around a man sitting down in front. The men are carrying either rifles or swords and have tassels hanging on the side of their hips. There is also one African American man sitting down on the left side who does not appear to be dressed the same as the other men in the photo. He does however have a cap on his head and a sword in his hand. The location is in the woods of Virginia. This is Plate 10 from _Gardner's Photographic Sketchbook of the War_ (Hack Collection No. 50).
