DescriptionThis is a carte de visite. The David L. Hack Civil War Photography Collection. Photograph of the Washington Monument. Blocks, stairs and pillars construct the base. There is a view of three smaller statues standing and then a larger statue on top of a man mounted on horseback. Underneath the horse there are star stringed across the pillar and under that the word "Washington" appears. There are many people congregated around the base and on the stairs. This is from _Gardner's Photographic Sketchbook of the War_ (Hack Collection No. 2].
