DescriptionThis reticulated bowl is pressed colorless lead-formula glass. It has a sunburst-like star bottom with heavy foot-ring, flaring sides consisting of sixteen vertical members terminating in large points at rim which are there connected by horizontal members with low points. This rare object is in outstanding condition.Label TextOPENWORK BOWL United States, possibly the Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. Ca. 1840-60 Pressed lead-formula opal glass. The sides of this bowl were vertical when it left the mold, but they were flared-out while the glass wass still hot (probably by shaping them over a form).
