She balanced tensions between the men's and women's departments with skill and grace, but she was also an extremely talented designer. Driscoll was one of the few designers who spent time with Louis Comfort Tiffany, sketching and painting from nature, often at Tiffany's home, Laurelton Hall on Long Island, New York. In this masterpiece, her careful observation and study of nature affected the shape of the lampshade, the placement of lead lines, and the choice of glass. Her skillful selection of each piece of glass in this Daffodil shade beautifully accentuates the three-dimensional character of the flower blossoms. Driscoll's careful attention to overall composition and meticulous detail make this example one of the finest Daffodil shades ever produced by Tiffany Studios.
