Mark Hewitt is a transplanted Englishman who works in North Carolina, where he has given the local folk art tradition his own sophisticated twist. He probably has the largest wood-fired kiln in North Carolina, firing some 2,000 ceramics at a time. His work has been added not only to the Museum's collection, but to many local private collections as well. His work is the subject of a major exhibition currently being organized by North Carolina State University, Raleigh.
