DescriptionGelatin silver print on texturized paper; depicts the old Tazewell House. Glue marks on back.Label TextOld Tazewell House, Norfolk, Va., 1902 American Possibly published by Harry Cowles Mann, ca. 1909–24 Gelatin silver print (photograph) on texturized paper Built between 1779 and 1783, the Boush-Tazewell-Waller House was once among the oldest and finest homes in downtown Norfolk. In 1902 it was disassembled and moved by barge from the intersection of Boush and Tazewell Streets to Powhatan Avenue in the new Edgewater neighborhood. Though Mann was not the original photographer of this image, he might have collected and sold prints of old Norfolk landmarks as companions to his own photographs of new downtown buildings.
