DescriptionThe Punishment of Atlas is executed in oil on canvas and measures 48 x 36 inches (122 x 92 cm). It is signed by the artist at the upper right: E. Neizvestny, and in the lower right corner: E. Neiz. It is inscribed twice on the verso (on the frame and on a paper tag): Atlas Punishment. The painting is a virtual grisaille, executed primarily in shades of black and gray with only the figure of Atlas picked out in vivid red.
