Trained in the documentary tradition, she is committed to portraying the contemporary moment, but her use of gentle lighting and soft tones also gives her subjects a historical quality, as if her images are set in the past. As seen here, the resulting photographs appear both historically rich and freshly modern, suggesting there is little distinction between the ancestral past and today.
