Recently its calendars have become a platform for photographic experimentation. For the 2018 calendar, the company commissioned fashion photographer Tim Walker, who collaborated with stylist Edward Enninful and set designer Shona Heath. Together they reimagined Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland with an all-black cast of 18 models, actors, musicians, and activists. The highly theatrical restaging of the familiar tale was deliberately political. As Enninful explained, “To see a black Alice today means children of all races can embrace the idea of diversity from a very young age and also acknowledge that beauty comes in all colors.” Gift of Pirelli & C.
