DescriptionAn illuminated lightbox made of flat panes of “flash” glass that have been cut, sandblasted, engraved, and layered. The edges of the glass sections are copper-foiled and joined with lead solder; the composition is set into a frame constructed from wood and zinc metal, while a light source hidden in the frame can be plugged into an electrical outlet to illuminate the piece. The artist’s initials “JS” and the date 2018 are painted on the glass border at the lower right front corner of the composition. The composition depicts a solitary nude figure with pinkish-red flesh and red hair, who is seated at a table and bends over the tabletop. To the left and above the figure, 30 colorless glass vases are depicted full of fantastical flowers, each vase set within its own rectangular pane of glass and separated from other panes by lead solder. The rectangular border of the composition consists of three rows of small squares of red glass.
