DescriptionWindow pane of pressed colorless pre-lacy glass. Rectangular shape with a large diamond (lozenge) figure at center with its points extending into the reeded border at the edge of the pane. Fans fill the corners between the sides of the diamond & the reeded border. The diamond consists (from outside to center) of two filets, a broad raised band with an "S" scroll-figure appearing three times on each side and a diamond-shaped fan at center. The back of the pane has a smooth beveled edge and broken reeding done in registar with broad raised band of the diamond on the front. All other intact examples have a smooth beveled edge on the front and reeding on the "S" scroll border itself.Exhibition HistorySandwich Glass Museum, a fragment with a full reeded border was excavated at Sandwich, no intact examples of this variant are known, personal communication with Kirk Nelson, Feb. 2, 1990. Ken Wilson found a fragment of this variant in the MIT Collection.
