DescriptionThe solid, compound cast glass sculpture Polychrome Fan by Mark Peiser is made of translucent glass with greenish and bluish hues. The work has a polyhedral shape. The work is inscribed on the bottom surface with the artist’s name, series and inventory number, and date: Mark Peiser / IS 157 / 84. The piece was cast in three wedge layers of different color glass: cobalt copper, copper chrome, and iron colorants. The interface surfaces align with the faceting, so as to disguise them.
ProvenanceMark Peiser: Gerome Paulson and his first wife Susan Miller Paulson purchased the Peiser artwork in 1984 from Habatat Gallery, Royal Oak, MI, where it was shown at the Habatat National exhibition. Mark Peiser records the original selling price as $4,500. Gifted to Chrysler Museum of Art in 2020.
