DescriptionThe large, blown glass vase Crimson, Clear, Concord by Sonja Blomdahl has a rounded body made from apricot-colored glass. The shoulder narrows to a short neck of colorless glass, which acts like a lens and allows the viewer to see the interior of the vessel. A cobalt-blue glass rim swells outward slightly and creates a broad convex collar. The three glass colors were combined using the Italian incalmo technique. The artist’s signature (“Sonja”) and inventory number (“B292” which indicates it is the second vessel signed in 1992) are engraved on the bottom surface of the vessel.
ProvenanceGerome and Gwen Paulson purchased the Blomdahl artwork in 1993 from The Glass Gallery, Bethesda, MD. The artist records the work was sold for $2,400. Gifted to the Chrysler Museum of Art in 2020.
