DescriptionThe blown glass vessel Ambrosia by Carrie Gustafson is made of orange glass overlaying colorless glass; the orange is darker near the base and becomes lighter near the rim. The vessel’s form is a very wide oval that tapers to a narrow base; the mouth is a simple, small hole on the top surface of the vessel. The glass has an all-over sandblasted design of a connecting network of small, irregular ovals; the artist hand-cut the mask used to make the design.ProvenanceGerome and Gwen Paulson purchased the Gustafson artwork in 2003 directly from the artist who was showing her work at the Smithsonian Craft Show, Washington, D.C. Gifted to the Chrysler Museum of Art in 2020.
