DescriptionTranslucent light green glass. Cylindrical pressed(?) body is wrapped by a Neoclassical figural design (three maidens in Grecian garb dancing with scarves, and a nude faun playing panpipes, surrounded by roses) that is acid-etched or unpolished for visibility; vertical seams are visible down two sides of the body. Shoulders and base of bottle are polished and faceted. Wide cylindrical neck with thick collar at rim, with interior unpolished. Flat base. No mark. Stopper’s flat finial is colorless glass that is pressed on two sides and acid-etched to make the design more visible: five rounded lopes with roses at edge; central oval of smooth polished glass with motif of a puti playing double-pipes and facing a seated figure holding a vessel or instrument, reminiscent of carved Roman gems and seals. Stopper has short tapering end with visible break (applicator may have been long).ProvenanceFaith W. Nusbaum and Sidney L. Nusbaum II, Cynthia and Stuart Katz, Chrysler Museum of Art
