DescriptionThis sand was collected by Glenn T. ReDavid, Jr., Natural Resource Manager at NAVSTA Norfolk, on November 2, 2021. Mr. ReDavid shares the sand's significance: “Naval Station (NAVSTA) Norfolk has the largest concentration of U.S. Navy forces in the world and is integral to the success of naval operations worldwide. The installation supports 61 homeported vessels, 18 squadrons with 187 aircraft and 326 tenant activities. This sand was collected near the USS Cole Memorial.” Atelier NL sand archive sample identification number: Norfolk-US-0041.
