DescriptionThis carte de visite is a half-length portrait of Martin Van Buren (1782-1862), eighth President of the U.S. This is a full-face portrait with the sitter turned very slightly to his proper left; he has white hair and muttonchops. Mount is rectangular with rounded corners and image is bordered by double gilt lines. Image has plain background.
