DescriptionBas-relief mounted in steel frame. Sand-cast clear blue glass with inclusions of colored glass, copper foil, and found metal objects.

Label TextBertil Vallien Swedish (b. 1938) Map #802121, 1999 Sand cast glass with inclusions Gift of the Chrysler COntemporaries, 2001 2001.6 Bertil Vallien is a pioneer in the technique of sandcasting glass. Wooden formed and found objects are pressed into damp casting sand to form the mold. The hot glass is ladled into this mold in layers so that copper inclusions can be incorporated within the body of the glass.
