Label TextTony Vaccaro American, b. 1922 Georgia O’Keeffe, Taos Pueblo, New Mexico, 1960 Gelatin silver print (photograph) Photographer Tony Vaccaro spent two weeks with Georgia O’Keeffe at her Abiquiu, New Mexico, ranch in April 1960, on assignment for LOOK magazine. The 72-year-old painter was initially distant and reluctant to pose, but she slowly warmed up to Vaccaro, resulting in playful images like this one in which O’Keeffe peers through a hole in a piece of Swiss cheese.
