DescriptionThis is a gelatin silver print of Georgia O'Keeffe in the back seat of a car, holding a drink in her right hand and a piece of swiss cheese with her left, looking through the swiss cheese hole with her left eye. The background is a desert.Label TextTony Vaccaro American, b. 1922 Georgia O’Keeffe, Taos Pueblo, New Mexico, 1960 Gelatin silver print (photograph) Photographer Tony Vaccaro spent two weeks with Georgia O’Keeffe at her Abiquiu, New Mexico, ranch in April 1960, on assignment for LOOK magazine. The 72-year-old painter was initially distant and reluctant to pose, but she slowly warmed up to Vaccaro, resulting in playful images like this one in which O’Keeffe peers through a hole in a piece of Swiss cheese.
