DescriptionThis is a 'King of Prussia' Baluster-Form Jug. Printed in black on one side with a half-length portrait of Frederick the Great [version number 2] by Robert Hancock from Richard Houston's engraving after a portrait by Antoine Pesne, above a scroll, the date 1757 and the title KING of PRUSSIA, above him a flying cherub holiding a wreath, on the reverse the angel of 'Fame' [version number 1] blowing two trumpets, and beneath the spout a cluster of inscribed pennants and 'Military Trophies' above the anchor rebus of Richard Holdship and the inscription RH Worcester, the back with an S-scroll handle.
