DescriptionThis is one of a pair of 'Gilliflower' Pattern Ice Pails (or Fruit Coolers) and Covers. Each pail with a slightly tapering cylindrical body affixed at the sides with angular handles, molded around the rim with a ridged border, raised on three circular pad feet, and painted on the front and reverse with a dianthus sprig amidst insects and smaller floral sprigs, the coveres with a gallery encircling the double-S-scroll knop, and painted with sprigs and insects, and each piece with a blue-edged rim. Crescent marks in underglaze-blue.
