DescriptionThis is a stereocard with a single sheet affixed to it that displays two stereoscopic albumen prints. The images are nearly identical views from the Emerald Pool in New Hampshire. The card measures 3 ½ x 6 7/8 inches, and the double print measures 3 ¼ x 6 ½ inches. The recto of the card is printed with the following text: 315 EMERALD POOL, GLEN, WHITE MOUNTAINS, N. H. The verso of the card is stamped with the following: BIERSTADT BROTHERS, PHOTOGRAPHERS, CHINA HALL, 39 PURCHASE STREET, NEW BEDFORD, MASS. VIEWS AMONG THE WHITE MOUNTAINS, THE FAR WEST, AMONG THE CAPS ON THE POTOMAC &C &C. The verso is also marked in ink with a signature, A. C. S[…illegible], and a check mark (upper left), and in graphite, NO 21.
