DescriptionThe untitled blown glass vessel by Joel Philip Myers is made of colorless, red, and black glass. The vessel is narrow in section and broad across its front view, with a general shape similar to a pickle (sometimes these works are called Myers’ ‘pickle bottles’). The long body slopes upwards to form a rounded neck and mouth. The vessel is made from a thick layer colorless glass overlaying a layer of translucent red glass. Decorations across the front and back surfaces include irregular shapes filled with hatchings in black; these are achieved through hot applications and coldworking.
