He created a number of series, often featuring snow-capped Mt. Fuji, the tallest peak in Japan. The widely visible mountain still has totemic significance today and is a symbol of Japan. This triptych expands on one of those scenes from the beach at Hoda and shows a couple travelling along the coast. Triptychs (a Greek world for "three leaves") were a popular way of making affordable larger pictures using existing production techniques. Gift of James C.
