Smith 52.18.33 This compote cased in blue glass over colorless lead glass and cut in the internationally popular Bohemian style, is documented by descent in the family of Kate Tyler Smith, whose uncle was New England Glass Company employee Thomas H. Leighton. The New England Glass Company, which showed similar glassware (sometimes called Americo-Bohemian glass) at the New York Crystal Palace in 1853, was one of the most important American makers of glass in the Bohemian style.
