DescriptionThis carte de visite is a portrait of Abraham Oakey Hall (1826-1898), Mayor of New York, involved in the Tweed Ring scandal. This is a full-face portrait with the sitter turned slightly to his proper right; he has "salt-and-pepper" hair and beard. He is wearing pince-nez; tweed jacket; plaid tie in loose bow at collar. Buff-colored mount is rectangular with rounded corners; image has plain background. (Note: sitter's name is spelled incorrectly in the mount's inscription.)
