DescriptionThe David L. Hack Civil War Photography Collection. There are ten men in this photograph. They are gathered around two desks with cubby holes looking like a way for sorting mail. The one man in the center kneeling down is an African American and the rest are Caucasian people. Above their heads is a makeshift shelter created out of tree branches and pine needles.
