DescriptionThis is a 'The Milkmaids' Pattern Spherical Teapot (A) and Cover (B). Printed in black on one side with a scene by Robert Hancock after an engraving by James Ross or Robert Sayer depicting a milkmaid bearing a pail on her head while a man helps another maid with her pail amidst cows and a dog, and on the reverse with a 'Farmyard Scene' of a farmer carrying a bundle of hay toward cows in a barnyard, the cover with a shepherd and shepherdess seated amidst their flock below the floral sprig knop, and each piece with a black enamel line around the shoulder or rim edge.
