DescriptionMosaic inkstand with a bronze framework. A thin band of metal circles the base. Originating from the band and extending to the rim are three bronze trees with overlapping foliage at the top. Between the trees are numerous small glass mosaic tiles of green, yellow-gold streaked with dark brown, violet swirled with blue and olive-brown, turquoise swirled with fuschia and orange streaked with purple. The tiles have a multi-colored iridescence. Inside the inkstand and resting on the rim is an inkwell of pressed transparent yellow-gold favrile glass with a flared and scalloped rim in the shape of flower petals. The interior and the exterior of the inkwell have a multi-colored iridescence. A cap of pressed opaque blue favrile glass in the shape of a flower pistil fits into the inkwell. The stem of the cap has a blue-purple iridescence glass insert marked "GAT64.52". Similar to a piece in Koch, G-B-L, p. 90, fig. 100, second row, first on left.
