DescriptionThis albumen carte de visite is a portrait of General Philip Henry Sheridan (1831-1888), Union general in Civil War. He is standing with his left hand at his side; right hand in his uniform coat (Napoleonic pose). To his left is a drape which partially obscures a table with a book on it. The mount is rectangular with rounded corners, gilt border of double lines around the image.
